STAXI was born from a simple Kiwi idea: getting to Cathedral Cove should be just as memorable as the destination itself.
We saw the opportunity to create a direct connection from Whitianga Wharf to Mautohe | Cathedral Cove, turning what would normally be a simple transfer into part of the Coromandel experience.
Leaving Whitianga, STAXI crosses Mercury Bay and travels through the spectacular Te Whanganui-o-Hei Marine Reserve aboard our purpose-built amphibious vessel. The journey combines a fast coastal crossing with something genuinely different: transitioning from sea to land and driving directly onto the sand at Cathedral Cove.
No transfers and no ordinary arrival. Just a direct journey from Whitianga Wharf, through Te Whanganui-o-Hei, and onto the beach at Mautohe | Cathedral Cove.
